Ik verken voor NRC het open sociale web. Deze mastodon-server is daar een belangrijke stap in. Hij vormt de uitvalsbasis voor NRC-redacteuren die actief zijn op Mastodon. Het is een werk in wording.

It would be very easy to port that to an RSS feed.
@WeirdWriter there's also https://mastofeed.org/ but that one does only Matodon
That blows my mind.
@oblomov *refills your glass* "...go on"
so, the first time my father tried to make sparkling wine, I was still living with my parents.
One evening, I was just minding my own business in my room, when I suddenly hear my father call me name with a tone of desperation in his shout, «come, quickly!»
I get to the kitchen, that was on the other side of the house, and my father was completely *drenched*, and the entire kitchen, walls and ceiling were painted with that classic purple color that you get when you stain something with red wine.
Wine had covered literally every surface, and my father was standing there, wine dripping from his glasses and clothes, arms wide but pointing down, you know, like you do when you are the victim of a surprise water bomb. Or wine bomb, as the case may be.
In front of him, one of those 2L Coke bottles that we often reuse for water or, as in this case, wine. Except that the bottle was almost completely empty, maybe one last finger of wine left in it, because the rest of the wine was *everywhere else*.
Apparently, the website where he had taken the instruction from had a typo, and the proportions of must (wort? not sure what the name is in English; the thing that you ferment to make wine) to wine was wrong by a factor of TEN (this was way before LLMs ruined the Internet BTW, but errors still happened of course).
So he *had* succeeded in making sparkling wine, except that the amount of CO₂ in it was *explosive*, and the moment he unscrewed the cap, the pressure just made the whole thing *blow up*.
This was a very instructive experience about things such as the amount of effort that it takes to clean a whole kitchen sprayed in wine, but also on the mechanical resistance of the 2L Coke bottles.

You can't go work for a bad organization, make a whole lot of money and when things start to turn (and the house is paid off) jump ship and expect me to just take you in. That is not how any of this works. I need to see actual amends being made.

So the whole “meritocracy“ thing was bullshit and actually you just need to be rich and/or have friends in high places to get unlimited tokens?

So #Buffer shit the bed for me, does anyone else have things to where I can pipe my RSS feed into and it spits out stuff to my Fediverse account when I am sleeping? I already got Webhooks set up via IFTTT, but also does anyone know of #Fediverse things that has native RSS imports? Like, to where I rely on IFTTT less? Because IFTTTs Enshittification is starting to happen. #AskFedi

So the "I left $AILab for ethical reasons" grift is starting up:
I understand wanting that bag, wanting to be in on a big thing. But if you thought OpenAI or Anthropic were okay a year ago or so, I really am not willing to give you any credit for leaving now.
Like how much fucking money did you make and how much did you sell your book (that will of course come) for?
@tante have the ethical reasons for these people ever been anything other than hype in a trenchcoat? like, is it ever about the exploited workers in the global south that are intentionally exposed to violent sexual abuse material in the name of "safety" and "alignment," for example? i haven't seen it. guess anyone who cared about actual ethics quit long ago or never started
